Especially during the summer season Amsterdam hosts a lot of outdoor festivals. You find even more outdoor festivals in the vicinity of Amsterdam. The main festival day is Saturday, however more festivals are adding the Sunday as well to their festivals.
Outdoor festivals normally start around 12noon and will close at 11PM.

AWAKENINGS Spring festival
Dates 2023: May 13 & 14
Awakenings Festival is a pure techno outdoor festival held for 2 days in the area of Amsterdam. Set in a park you will find about 5 open-air stages and 2 indoor stages in huge tents. The main stage is open air. Most famous tech DJ’s do have their gigs here!
For a decade Awakenings was held the last weekend of June. For the folks in Amsterdam, Awakenings has been programmed earlier in the season. However, a second Awakenings edition is taking place in South of The Netherlands. It’s the Awakenings Summer Edition and takes place for 3 days: July 7, 8 and 9 in Hilvarenbeek.

How to get there?
There are shuttle buses (at a small fee) from the railway station Amsterdam Sloterdijk and it’s the best way to get to this venue. Or take a cab from Amsterdam. There is a railway station very close to the venue (Halfweg), but during the event, trains do not stop at this station. Please check the information of the Dutch Railways if you are thinking about taking the train to Halfweg station.

Venue info
The venue is a park/nature area situated between Amsterdam and Haarlem. You can buy a weekend ticket or a ticket just for 1 day. Tickets for this festival run out fast.

909 festival
Dates 2023: June 3 & 4
909 Festival is one of the techno festivals in Amsterdam. It’s open air with a main stage and 1 smaller stage. It’s very close to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport so you might see planes landing.

How to get there?
There will special shuttle buses provided. Read the info on the website. Another way to get there is to take the train to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and from there the public bus to Schiphol East (Schiphol Oost). Disembark the bus at Steigenberger Airport Hotel. From there it’s 10 minutes walk to the venue. Just follow the sound of the music.
An other option is to rent a bike en go by bike to the festival like most people do.
Aftermovie 909 Festival 2022
Venue info
The venue is a park, an open airfield surrounded by a forest. It’s located in the city of Amstelveen, an adjacent city of Amsterdam.
Minimum age: 18 years old.

Loveland festival
Dates 2023: August 12 & 13
Loveland Festival is an open-air festival with 6 stages and it’s one of the biggest outdoor festivals in Amsterdam. Different styles of dance music: techno, minimal, house and tech-house. Apart from the stages, there are 2 tiny islands, one art island, and a relaxing island. You will find a lot of happy crowds, food corners and for sure a couple of most famous DJ’s.

How to get there?
There will be shuttle buses (at a small fee) from the railway station Amsterdam Sloterdijk or take the tram (streetcar) line 7 or 14 to Sloterpark, which is the final destination of both trams. Or, if you rent a bike you can go biking to the venue or you a cab.
Aftermovie Loveland Festival 2022
Venue info
The venue is Sloterpark, a park situated on a small lake and surrounded by a lot of trees in the west part of Amsterdam.
Minimum age: 18 years old.

Dance valley festival
Date 2023: August 12
Dance Valley is one of the oldest outdoor dance festivals in The Netherlands. Located in a surrounding of nature, some (very) small hills make this a good place for a festival. Different styles of music: techno, house, hardstyle, and hardcore.
The main stage will be the place to spot some famous DJ’s, however, there are 9 other stages to enjoy a full day of dance music.

How to get there?
Shuttle buses (at a small fee) will run between the railway station Amsterdam Sloterdijk and the venue. It’s the best way to get to this venue. You could take a cab as well but it will be much more expensive than the shuttle bus option.
If you don’t have a car, you should take a shutlle bus, it’s the most convenient way to get there.
Aftermovie Dance Valley Festival 2022
Venue info
The venue is a nature area between Amsterdam-West and IJmuiden, so just enjoy the music and nature!
Minimum age: 18 years old.

Mysteryland festival
Dates 2023: August 25, 26 and 27
Mysteryland is one of the oldest outdoor festivals in The Netherlands. Nowadays the event takes place for 3 days and is provided with a campsite, where you stay and sleep for the whole event. It has a variety of music styles and also art is a part of the festival.
The biggest stages are the main stage (EDM) and the stage of Q-dance (hardstyle) and both are open air. Some stages are in tents. You will find a lot of stages, many artists and you can try a lot of food and drinks!

How to get there?
From Amsterdam take the train to the direction of Schiphol Airport/Den Haag (The Hague) / Rotterdam.
Make sure the train stops at the railway station of Hoofddorp!
It’s the next station after the stop at Schiphol Airport.
From Hoofddorp Station use the special shuttle buses (at a small fee) to the venue. You will find the shuttle buses at the east side of the station.

Venue info
The venue is a park and a small forest in Hoofddorp, a city next to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. It has an artificial hill with a superb view of the Q-dance stage.
Minimum age: 18 years old.
